About us

Established in the year 1959, Janta College Bakewar has been a beacon of educational excellence with a commitment to providing a diverse array of programs across various educational faculties. The college holds affiliation with C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur (UP), and prides itself on a stellar infrastructure, sprawling campus, and extensive teaching and learning facilities. Notable features include a well-stocked library and cutting-edge Science Museum facilities.

As one of the premier multidisciplinary colleges affiliated with Kanpur University, Janta College Bakewar plays a pivotal role in advancing higher education, particularly for students hailing from rural areas. The institution stands out for its dedication to fostering academic growth in regions that may not have easy access to educational resources.

Situated in Bakewar town along National Highway-2, the college enjoys a strategic location, approximately 23 km east of the district headquarters in Etawah. Adding to its accessibility, it is positioned 11 km south of Bharthana Railway Station. This geographic advantage provides students with an environment conducive to learning, away from the challenges associated with caste and religion-based conflicts often encountered in more densely populated areas.

Janta College Bakewar is not just an educational institution; it is a catalyst for positive change in rural education. The college has pioneered the successful implementation of higher education principles in Mahewa, recognized as India's first developed Block in rural areas. Through its commitment to academic excellence and community development, Janta College Bakewar continues to play a transformative role in the educational landscape of the region.

History

Janta College Bakewar, a revered institution in the sub-urban town, was established through the generous donation of Rs. 25,000 by the esteemed Late Mr. Devendra Mani Dwivedi. The journey commenced with the inauguration of a public school and junior high school on July 1, 1952, followed by the initiation of ninth-grade classes. In 1954, the institution expanded its academic offerings to include intermediate classes.

Affiliated with Agra University (currently Dr.Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra), Janta College Bakewar took a significant step forward in 1959 by introducing science classes offering subjects such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The college affiliated with Kanpur University (now Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur) in July 1967, marking another milestone in its commitment to providing quality education. The college caters to approximately 2500 students across various streams, including arts, sciences, agriculture, commerce, and business, ensuring a holistic and comprehensive educational experience.
